What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy (radial pressure wave) stimulates healing in tendons, muscles, and fascia to reduce pain, improve mobility, and speed recovery. It’s a smart option for stubborn injuries and a powerful tool for long-term performance and prevention.

Shockwave Therapy uses acoustic (pressure) waves delivered through a handheld device to the injured area. These waves increase local circulation, stimulate tissue regeneration, and modulate pain signals — helping your body repair itself, faster. It’s non-invasive, drug-free, and backed by strong clinical use worldwide.

What does treatment involve?

Shockwave Treatments:

Assessment & Plan
We review your health history, examine the area, and confirm Shockwave is appropriate. You’ll get a clear plan for sessions and home care.

Treatment (10–15 minutes)
Gel is applied and the handheld device delivers a series of gentle taps to the treatment area. Intensity is adjustable for comfort.

After your session
You may feel mild, post-workout-style soreness for 24–48 hours. Most clients notice improvement within 1–3 visits, with gains building over several weeks as tissue remodels.

Shockwave + Massage Therapy:

When appropriate, Shockwave can be included within a Massage Therapy session. Our RMT will assess the whole area that loads the injured tissue. For example, with tennis elbow we also check the shoulder and wrist. The session may include hands-on massage and mobility work for related muscles and joints, with Shockwave applied to the specific tendon or trigger points as needed.

Why combine them?

  • Addresses contributing muscles and movement patterns, not just the sore spot

  • Helps reduce compensations that build up over time

  • Keeps care streamlined in one visit

What this looks like in practice (example tennis elbow)

  1. Brief assessment and plan

  2. Massage therapy to the shoulder, forearm, and wrist (as indicated)

  3. Targeted Shockwave to the elbow region

  4. Simple after-care and home tips

Your clinician will guide whether a combined or standalone approach is the best fit for you. If selecting this option ensure you select the correct treatment: "Shockwave + Massage Therapy"

Does it hurt?
You’ll feel a firm tapping sensation. We adjust intensity to your comfort, aiming for therapeutic effect without excessive pain.

How many sessions will I need?
Most conditions respond within 3–6 sessions. Chronic issues may need a short series and occasional maintenance.

Is it safe?
Yes. Shockwave is non-invasive and widely used for musculoskeletal conditions. Your clinician will screen for contraindications.

Can I combine this with other care?
Absolutely. We often pair Shockwave with osteopathy, RMT, acupuncture, or targeted exercise for best outcomes.

Diploma of Massage Therapy
Shockwave Therapist

Shelby’s goal in every session is simple: to help clients move better, feel stronger, and live without the limitations of pain. He takes a results-driven, individualized approach, focusing on uncovering the root cause rather than just easing symptoms. Using deep tissue massage, shockwave therapy, corrective exercise, and lifestyle guidance, he supports clients in recovering from injuries, restoring balance, and building long-term resilience.

His passion for this work grew from his own journey. Shelby dedicated much of his early life to martial arts, boxing, and jiu-jitsu, competing as a professional fighter in his early twenties. While the discipline of sport shaped him, years of intense training also brought injuries and health challenges. Searching for recovery and longevity, he explored yoga, Qi Gong, and nutrition—discovering the importance of caring for the body in a holistic way.

That exploration led him to become certified as a Holistic Health Coach, where he began guiding friends and family on their paths to health. The turning point came when Shelby worked alongside a massage therapist and saw how one treatment could completely shift someone’s pain, mobility, and outlook. Inspired by that experience, he knew this was the work he was meant to do.

Today, Shelby blends his background as an athlete, coach, and therapist into every treatment. He meets clients where they are, listens to their needs, and brings together knowledge, hands-on skill, and empathy to create lasting change in their health and wellbeing.
